The scene of the attempted ramraid in Vine Street, Spalding, on May 13.

A 31-year-old man has admitted several counts of burglary – including last month’s attempted ramraid at a Spalding clothes shop.

James Steven Evans, of Wisbech, was charged on Friday and has appeared before magistrates in Lincoln.

Evans admitted burglaries in Spalding at Chiltern Drive on May 13 and at Holland Road on May 5.

A police statement said: “He was also charged with three burglaries in Christ Church Close, Stamford.
“Several other offences have been taken into consideration, including a burglary at Robert Goddard’s, Spalding on May 13.”

The shop in Vine Street had its front door smashed by a telegraph pole which had been transported by a Renault Clio stolen earlier in the Ladywood Drive area of Spalding.

Evans was kept in custody and appeared before Lincoln District Magistrates’ Court. He has been committed to Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing.
