Springfields ‘overwhelmed’ as nearly 3,000 children do Easter egg hunt

A record number of nearly 3,000 children participated in this year’s Easter egg hunt at Springfields – more than double the previous highest.

Children could complete a fun hunt in the Festival Gardens in return for a Thorntons Easter Egg and activity pack, which included entry to a ‘Design an Easter Egg competition’. The top prize being a family tour to the Thorntons chocolate factory.

Over the two-week school holiday, Springfields’ customers were also able to enjoy free face painting, see appearances from popular children’s characters and a petting zoo.

A spokesperson for Springfields said: ‘’We were overwhelmed with the uptake of this year’s event and were glad to see so many families having such a great time.
“Customers came from far and wide and from as far away as Brighton, Hull, Nottingham and Birmingham. This winning formula could be expanded to the town centre so that visitors from outside of the region can be encouraged to visit Spalding also.’’

The approximate 700 entries are on display in the unit between Costa and The Body Shop Outlet and will be there to view until Friday, April 28.
The top 20 finalists, also on display, win a £10 Springfields gift card with the overall winner being announced over the next few days.
