Maltby passes 60 for the season as Pinchbeck United cruise past Crowland Town

Pinchbeck United kept the pressure on ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders Peterborough Sports Reserves with a thumping 8-1 win over Crowland Town on Tuesday night.

Goals from Tony Edwards (9), Liam Ogden (18 and 25), Ollie Maltby (40, 70 and 75), Tyler Wright (45) and Chris Shipley (82) did the job for Ian Dunn’s side at Knight Street.

The win moved them into second place and within one point of the lead ahead of Wednesday night’s game between leaders Sports and fourth-placed Netherton United (result not known as we went to press).

Maltby’s hat-trick took him to an amazing 61 goals for the season – meaning he’s scored more than ten of the 18 PDFL Premier Division sides have managed in total.

“We won the ball back high up the pitch and they couldn’t cope with our movement and quality.

“It was a good all-round performance that we’ll look to take into Saturday.

“Ollie’s second and third goals were unreal – both from 25 yards out after beating and holding off a few players.”
