Bakkavor staff’s £1,000 for blood bikes

Bakkavor office workers in Spalding have presented £1,000 to Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS), their chosen charity for 2016.

Bakkavor’s Group Services employees nominate charities that have made a personal difference to their own families and are close to their heart. The amount was raised through various activities including quizzes, sporting sweepstakes and Christmas lunches.

Blood bikes provide an out-of-hours courier service transporting essential medical items such as blood, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk between hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Jo Cullen, representing the Bakkavor office at Spalding, said: “It is really important to us that we support a charity that provides essential services for the people that work alongside us who are personally affected by difficult life circumstances.
“We hope our fundraising efforts can help LEBBS continue with the fabulous work it does across our county.”
