Star guest Frampton is a hit at Spalding Round Table boxing night

Former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton packed a punch as star guest at Spalding and District Round Table’s boxing night.

The charitable organisation added to the more than £200,000 it has raised over the previous 22 annual events, with proceeds going to good causes in the area.

Frampton was the talk of last Saturday’s event at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding, with the 370 guests delighted with his down-to-earth attitude and the time he made for photographs.

Table chairman Matt Burchnall said: “It was a great night and I’ve had very positive feedback from many of the guests.
“Carl was a fantastic guest speaker. Nothing was too much trouble for him and I’m sure he enjoyed himself as much as we enjoyed having him at the event.”

The boxing bouts are traditionally between teams representing the Army and police.
The auction saw three signed Frampton gloves sold as well as a signed Chelsea shirt for £350 and other sporting memorabilia.

Meanwhile, representatives from JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and Ladybirds Pre School at West Pinchbeck sold raffle tickets and shared a £500 donation.
The event received sponsorship from Cockram’s Transport, Royal Taxis, MPL Home Improvements, Rooke’s Pet Products and Duncan & Toplis Accountants.

Matt added: “On behalf of Spalding Round Table I would like to thank all the guests for their attendance on the night.
“Most have attended for many years and it is their continued support which has enabled Spalding Round Table to donate more than £200,000 to local good causes over the past 22 years.

“I would also like to thank Tabler Dave Jackson and the rest of the committee for all of their hard work in organising the event this year, as well as everyone who helped on the night.”
