Saturday football: Mixed cup fortunes for Pinchbeck United and Moulton Harrox

Ollie Maltby fired a hat-trick to earn Pinchbeck United a 3-0 ChromaSport PFA Senior Cup quarter-final win over Netherton United on Saturday, while Moulton Harrox crashed out of the same competition 2-1 at ICA Sports.

Goal machine Maltby took his tally for the season to 41 with a Knight Street treble, ensuring Pinchbeck waltzed into their second semi-final of the season and kept their treble bid alive.

However, Moulton Harrox saw their bid for the same treble ended at ICA. They still have the Premier Division title and President Premier Shield to play for, however.

In the PDFL Premier Division, there were heavy defeats for Crowland Town and Holbeach United Reserves.
Holbeach lost 5-1 at Ketton, while Crowland suffered a 6-2 loss at leaders Peterborough Sports Reserves.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United’s home date with Cogenhoe United in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division was postponed after a failed pitch inspection at 11.15am.

That didn’t amuse Cogenhoe, who arrived for the game as usual, having not been notified of the postponement.

In Evo-Stik NPL First Division South, a Leon Mettam hat-trick inspired Spalding United to a 4-0 win over Romulus.
