The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre is holding a rare weekend opening this Sunday and Monday.

The centre at RAF Coningsby offers a unique chance to see some of the last remaining fully-operational aircraft that defended the nation’s skies during the Second World War.

Visitors will be shown around the hangar by knowledgeable volunteer guides, many of whom have first-hand experience of the aircraft.

The hangar tours last around one-and-a-half hours.

Guests can also enjoy quality food and drink at the centre’s new Merlins Tea Room. Opened on April 28, the new café provides an opportunity to stay much longer, relax and enjoy the experience.

This Sunday and Monday is the first of only three periods this year when people can visit the centre during a weekend.

Tickets are £6.50 for adults, £4.50 for concessions, £17.50 for a family, and free for under-fives.
