Lily leads the way as Spalding Gymnastic Academy girls shine at Colchester

Spalding Gymnastic Academy recently took a group of their talented youngsters to a competition at Dave’s Gymnastic Club in Colchester – and came away with a host of medals.

Although it was a late start, the gymnasts showed no sign of tiredness and put together some very good routines to come away with plenty of rewards to show for their efforts and dedication in training.

Medals won in the highest level of the day saw Lily Thompson win bronze on vault and bars and silver on floor in the under-12 age group, which earned her a brilliant bronze overall.

Darcy Orford also collected a gold medal for her outstanding performance on vault, while Rebecca Fones won a bronze medal on beam.

In the over-12 age group, Miah Farrel got the silver on bars, while Maddie Freeman went one better by executing a brilliant floor to take gold from a dominant Havering Club.

Overall, it was a brilliant result for everyone taking part for Spalding on the day, with some strong southern clubs among those taking part.
