LETTER: Better warning needed to protect Holbeach ducks

Bravo Jackie Ives for her letter (November 17) asking for motorists’ consideration of ducks and other wildfowl in Fishpond Lane, Holbeach.

We, too, have seen near misses of the wildfowl, with people who think they are lord/lady of the manor in their big vehicles with little or no regard to the speed limit.
However, there are people who are aware of the ducks etc and it is nice to see the smiles on their faces whilst they wait for the creatures to decide which way they want to cross.

Whilst there is a sign (red warning triangle), it is situated in such a way that it is hardly noticeable because when coming from St John’s Street, one has to concentrate on vehicles entering or coming from the car park, pedestrians and traffic.

So perhaps someone could think of a better way to warn motorists with a notice/sign that would stand out and then we would not see so many unfortunate ducks laying dead in the road.
