Two of South Holland’s pre-schools have been deemed “outstanding” and a primary school has raised its rating to “good,” in recent Ofsted reports.
Inspectors praised the quality of teaching at Little Treasures Nurseries, in Haverfield Road, Spalding, as “superb”.
It said of the 72-place nursery: “Staff are extremely kind, approachable and dedicated to the children.”
The report added: “The provider has a first-rate understanding of her responsibilities. Her ethos to provide a home-from-home environment for the children is shared and promoted extremely effectively by her professional and caring staff.
“Enthusiastic staff plan exciting and challenging activities to engage the children.”
Abbey 345 Pre-School, Postland Road, Crowland, was also rated outstanding.
Inspectors said: “Children are highly motivated and keen to learn in this inclusive and very welcoming setting.
“Leadership is inspirational. There is a clear vision to work together with parents and professionals to provide the best opportunities to promote children’s learning and development. The manager, staff and committee members all share a passion to provide a highly stimulating and continually evolving provision.”
Sutton St James Primary School has been judged “good” – having been said to require improvement at its last inspection in September 2014.
A report said: “The highly-motivated headteacher has relentlessly recruited high-quality teaching staff.
“The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is now good. This is having a positive impact on pupils’ achievements in all classes.”
Pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding, the report said.
To improve further the school should continue to support and develop the work of the new English and mathematics subject leaders so they are fully equipped to further drive up standards in these subjects, the report said. As well as stretch, stimulate and challenge the most able pupils in every class, so that they swiftly progress to the highest standards.
