Two friends from Holbeach are bringing glamour and community spirit together by hosting a black-tie Vogue Ball this October in aid of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Chloe King, 32, and Lyane Markham, 41, are organising the fundraising event after local residents overwhelmingly voted Sue Ryder as the charity they most wanted to support.
The Vogue Ball will take place on October 10 at the Peterborough Marriott Hotel, with guests enjoying a three-course meal, entertainment and fundraising activities while raising vital funds for Sue Ryder’s expert palliative and end-of-life care and bereavement support.
Chloe said: “We’d always wanted to organise a ball or fundraising event for charity, so we asked people in a Peterborough community Facebook group which charity they would most like us to support.
“When all the responses came in, Sue Ryder was overwhelmingly the most popular choice. We thought we had to get in touch and find out more.”
After connecting with the charity and visiting Sue Ryder hospice in Peterborough earlier this year, Chloe and Lyane were inspired.
“We were really surprised to learn how much hospices rely on charitable fundraising,” said Chloe.
“Everybody we met was so passionate about where they worked and the quality of care they provide. It was lovely to see that not only is the patient supported, but their family are supported too, and that this support continues after their loved one has died.
“It’s such a dignified, lovely place and there’s such a need for Sue Ryder within the community.”
The event has grown from a shared passion for event planning. Chloe and Lyane both work at Ashwood Homes and first met through Leanne’s former events and balloons business.
“Organising events is something we both love doing,” Chloe added. “We thought if we could use something we’re good at to raise money for a charity, that’s even more rewarding. We just want to raise as much money as we possibly can.”
Guests attending the Vogue Ball can expect an evening of entertainment, including a DJ, photo booth, charity auction and Vogue-themed fundraising activities.
Tickets cost £65 per person, including a three-course meal and wine on the table. There’s also sponsorship opportunities for tables from £100.
