First-ever UK produce industry fair taking shape

Two South Holland people well known for their respective experience in the produce industry and retail are launching a supply chain fair.

The UK Produce Industry Fair will cover everyone from growers to grocers. By bringing all areas of this industry together in one place, the fair aims to demonstrate how and where businesses can be more efficient through new ideas, innovation and diverse networking.

Companies throughout the produce industry are being invited to showcase their products and/or services to a national audience of buyers, operators and traders from any part of the supply chain.

The men behind the launch of the fair at Peterborough Arena on September 13 and 14 next year are Trevor Hyde, a director within the produce industry, most recently at Empire World Trade Ltd, and Phil Scarlett, a former retail director at a number of UK PLCs.

Trevor said: “From our initial discussions with a variety of leading companies throughout the supply chain, we believe that the fair will attract 4,000+ visitors from within the industry because of its unique content supplying our industry a one-stop shop.”

The two-day fair will include business seminars discussing economic and political factors affecting our industry, innovative technology and automation tools plus a careers and job zone specialising in the produce industry.

Trevor added: “In our industry the pressure is always there to compete effectively in a challenging market and the need to focus on efficiencies within the industry.
“We must compete effectively through annual review and identify areas of operational improvement and strive to find innovative solutions and services to maintain a world leading position.”
