Tom Roberts admits that he and his Holbeach United side have unfinished business when they visit Leicester Nirvana on Saturday (3pm).
The Tigers were drubbed 7-0 by Nirvana at the back end of last season in what was the darkest day of his managerial career to date.
Everything that could have gone wrong for Holbeach did go wrong that night, with both Josh Ford and Jamie Stevens sent off inside 20 minutes.
Player/boss Roberts and his Tigers will face a different Nirvana side this time around, though.
They’ve changed manager since that night and are now placed in the lower reaches of the ChromaSport United Counties League, having narrowly missed out on the title last year.
Holbeach will go into the game fresh off the back of two home defeats in five days (2-1 against Desborough and 2-0 against Yaxley), with Roberts targeting at least four points to keep his side in the mix at the top of the table.
He said: “We’ve got unfinished business with Nirvana, that’s for sure.
“I know it’s a different season and perhaps not the same team, but we want to right a few wrongs.
“That 7-0 defeat was ridiculous and it still doesn’t sit right with me.
“We shouldn’t take Nirvana lightly despite their position. They scored twice at Peterborough Sports on Saturday, not many sides will do that.”
Tommy Treacher, Jake Clitheroe and skipper Stevens are all back for the Tigers this weekend.
