Moulton Harrox’s winning run ended by Freiston despite fine figures from Lyon and Naylor

Moulton Harrox’s three-game winning run came to an end on Saturday after an 87-run defeat against South Lincs and Border League Division One rivals Freiston.

The visitors racked up 183 batting first at Harrox Field, but Moulton did pick up five points for bowling them out.

Waseem Ilyas top scored for Freiston with 37, while Abdul Moeed (28) and Richard Paul (27) also chipped in with decent scores.

Joe Lyon (3-51) and William Naylor (3-38) starred with the ball for Moulton, while Alex Baker (2-34) and Joe Broomfield (2-27) took the other wickets.

Harrox’s reply started well enough, with openers Lance Bettinson (19) and Broomfield (38) scoring well.

But nobody else could manage double figures as Moeed (6-18) ripped through their batting order to leave the hosts 96 all out.

  • Division One table-toppers Spalding 2nd saw their game at Skegness 2nd called off due to the heavy rainfall on Saturday.

In Division Two, Spalding 3rd also saw their game against Graves Park fall foul of the rain.
