Emphatic Mail on Sunday success for Spalding Golf Club’s on-song women

There’s seemingly no stopping Spalding Golf Club’s magnificent Mail on Sunday team.

Playing host to Elton Furze Golf Club in round five, Spalding’s women cruised to an impressive 4-1 success at the Surfleet course. Although it was very windy, the conditions were better and the course was in beautiful condition, if not rather tough.

Wins came from Lois Williamson (5&3), Mathilde Kedzlie (4&2), Angela Roper (1 up) and Pat West won (4&2), with Claire Rylott (2&1) narrowly edged out.

  • Pat West, a senior member of Spalding’s ladies’ section, won the Lincolnshire Seniors’ Championship at Grimsby Golf Club.

She managed a gross 79, when the competition scratch score was 76. This resulted in an adjustment to her handicap, too.

  • Some 17 lady members braved the cold and wet conditions for Spalding’s Millennium Cup at the Surfleet course.

The winner was Debra Ward with a nett 80, one shot ahead of Angela Roper and third Elaine Hancock (both 81) in second and third places respectively.
