‘Nothing is going to hold me back’ – Mum battles illness to open new business

A mum-of-four who has faced disaster and serious health concerns has vowed to “make a difference” to her family and friends by never giving up on her dreams.

Donna Moore suffers from auto-immune diseases lupus and multiple sclerosis and is now waiting to see if she gets the all-clear after cancer, but refuses to let her health stop her – opening a new shop selling handmade gifts crafted by herself and others.
Her dreams of running her Fairydell Designs shop got off to a shaky start, with a leaky roof at her first premises in Gosberton ruining thousands of pounds of stock on the same day she went into hospital to have an operation on her face and hip for skin cancer.
Much of the ruined stock was from Donna’s story sack library aimed at encouraging children to read.
Donna was told the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and, as she underwent radiotherapy to combat the disease, she made the decision that nothing was going to hold her back.
She has now opened up her new shop at Baytree Nurseries, Weston, and says she has been overwhelmed by the support she has received.
Donna (33), of Spalding, said: “People have been so lovely.
“Because of the lupus and MS I sometimes get really down and frustrated because I have muscle weakness and extreme fatigue, but I have to go on for my four children and the business gives me a reason to get up each morning.
“It is really something that keeps me going.
“Nothing that’s worth it in life is ever easy, but I am determined to make a difference to myself, family and friends. Nothing is going to hold me back.”
Fairydell Designs is open 10am to 4pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
