Four family members of a Spalding man who died from motor neurone disease are taking on a tough 1,800-mile motorcycling challenge.
Steve (Sid) Sinclair, Ashley Sinclair and Phil Rodgers (all from Pode Hole) and Will Brassington, of Moulton Seas End, leave England on Saturday, May 28, and aim to travel through France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and arrive in The Netherlands before midnight the following day.
The fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association is partly in memory of Andrew Grantham (pictured), who died in July 2014.
The disease has no known cure and kills around half of those diagnosed within 14 months. It leaves people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves.
Andrew’s sister, Diane Sinclair, said: “We saw first hand the brilliant work that MNDA do in supporting sufferers and their families. Andrew was very keen for us to fundraise in the hope that this disease may be prevented and treated in the future.”
She added: “Last year my husband Steve also lost a fellow biker friend, Alan Hill, from this terrible disease.
“As a result the idea of the nine countries in 48 hours challenge came to fruition in memory of them both.
“They would like to raise as much money as possible for the charity to help them to continue the wonderful work that they do and research the disease.”
