New Saracen’s Head C sink Ship to deny them Spalding and District Darts League double

New Saracen’s Head C put Division One disappointment behind them to deny Ship Albion a double on finals night of the Grays of Holbeach Spalding and District Darts League.

Having finished two points behind champions Ship in the top tier table, NSH C made amends by beating them in the Supreme Cup final at Spalding Services Club.

Prior to that showdown, Division One side Lamb and Flag – who finished third in the top flight – lifted the Kelly Foster Cup after dispatching second tier side Wheatsheaf.

Then came the Secondary Cup final, with another champion side denied the double by the team finishing second in the table.

This time it was George and Angel, who won all 14 of their Division Two games over the campaign.

They were beaten in the Secondary Cup final by Holbeach USC, who had finished six points behind them in the table.

Meanwhile, the Mixed Pairs final went the way of Duncay Hunt and Shirley Povey after they saw off the challenge of Mark and Casey Horspool.

Saracen’s Head C then added their second team trophy of the evening by dispatching Horse and Groom in the Triples final.

Then came the doubles, with Dave and Jordan Kirchin getting their hands on the Division Two prize by beating Jason Vines and Wayne Brickles.

There was no surprise in the Division One finale, with formidable pairing Hunt and Mark Horspool having too much for Shaun Biggs and Mark Woodrow.

In the Ladies’ final it was another perennial winner who took the prize as Dawn MacTavish triumphed over Lindsay Wingell.

There was another of the league’s leading ladies’ on winning form, too. Claire Brookin is the new Captain’s Cup champion, having edged out Andy Beeken.

That left the singles finals to conclude the evening.

Jason Vines lifted the Division Two crown by defeating Chris Chamberlain, while Mark Horspool outgunned team-mate Hunt in the Division One version.
