Pupils show off their salsa skills

Children took to the floor to learn dances from around the world at a workshop at Sutton St James Primary School.
The event was run by the West End in Schools group and pupils were able to learn a variety of dances including the Hakka from New Zealand, the CanCan from France, Scottish dancing, Salsa from Brazil and some Bollywood style moves from India.
All of the pupils, including the pre-school, took part in asession learning about telling a story through dance, performing Where the Wild Things Are.
Rachael Gadsden, from the school, said: “This workshop for all of the children was funded by the school as a new opportunity to experience a different sport which they may never have tried before.
“The tutor was excellent and inspired the children, encouraging them to express themselves through dance and to give the performance of their lives when they showed their dances to each other in a sharing assembly at the end of the day.”
