A new headteacher has been appointed at Long Sutton’s Peele Community College.
Elizabeth Smith took up the permanent position last week after “shining” during the interview process.
She had been acting headteacher since September when Simon Gilman resigned citing pressures of the job as his reason for standing down.
Last week the board of governors issued a statement thanking everyone for their support during the recruitment process and announcing Miss Smith’s appointment with immediate effect.
Miss Smith said: “The Peele Community College is on a journey towards good.
“My unwavering aim is to provide the students that attend this college the quality of education that they deserve.
“My ambitions for the future is for the local community to have a good school right on their doorstep.
“I am equally as determined to raise student aspirations by instilling a sense of self-belief that attending university for example or setting up their own business is very much within their reach. But fundamentally I want our students to have a sense of pride in themselves and The Peele Community College.”
Miss Smith takes on the role at a difficult time for the school, which was rated as “requires improvement” by Ofsted following an inspection in January.
