No-one knows exactly what happened to Trudy before she was rescued by the RSPCA but her injuries left her unable to walk.
She is being looked after at Greenpeace Kennels in Whaplode St Catherine, where staff are slowly but surely nursing her back to health.
Tony Dominy, from the kennels, said: “Trudy had an accident or suffered some sort of trauma which affected her back end.
“She couldn’t stand or walk at all, and with pain relief and anti-inflammatory drugs she is improving. Full investigation was needed to see if she had sustained any serious permanent damage, which doesn’t seem to be the case.
“Trudy was taken to Sutterton Vets where a full assessment and x-rays were taken.
“The x-rays didn’t show any broken bones so we are hoping that with lots of rest Trudy will recover from the massive trauma she suffered.
“Trudy was on cage rest for at least a week and is being well cared for by our staff.
“She is now up and about and wandering around the garden in the sunshine.
“She has made friends with the other dog in the house and is feeling much happier!
“Once given the all clear by the vets Trudy will be available for rehoming.”
