Boss Panton proud as red-hot Moulton Harrox reach a century of league goals

Moulton Harrox notched their 100th ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division goal of the season as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Sawtry on Saturday.

All four of the goals came from the unstoppable Ollie Maltby, who took his tally for the season to 30 for the table-toppers.

The Broad Lane success also extended Harrrox’s unbeaten league run to 21 matches and made it ten home wins from as many matches.

Boss Dave Panton said: “It was a fantastic and well-disciplined performance against a better Sawtry team that just couldn’t live with us.

“Our keeper didn’t have a single shot to save, which is great credit to the defence. I thought everybody contributed by giving 100 per cent.

“We have scored over 100 goals in the league alone now and Ollie Maltby has given us 30 per cent of them, which is incredible as he didn’t start the season with us. I’m really pleased for Ollie and I think he’s really enjoying it with us.

“The skipper (Billy King) is also in great form, being very influential on the field.”

FOUR-SOME: Ollie Maltby made it 30 for the season with four goals against Sawtry.

Saturday represented one of Moulton’s best performances of the season so far in what was their fourth meeting with Sawtry.

With the visitors eager to stop Ben Allen and Joe Townsend, it gave King time to pick out Maltby – who made no mistake and opened the scoring early on.

The in-form Guy Mantle then combined with Allen, who crossed for Maltby to bury his second of the day.

The second half saw Moulton dominate again, playing superb football throughout the team. King was enjoying his day and he set up Maltby for yet another hat-trick.

With Willy Watkin, Bobby Patterson and Ash Coddington keeping the defensive aspect of the team solid, the unstoppable duo of King and Maltby combined again for the leading scorer to net the fourth late on.

Harrox: Kenealy, Groves, Johnson, Coddington, Patterson, King, Watkin, Allen (Panton), Townsend, Maltby (Bradbury), Mantle.
