Easter egg-citement at Frampton Marsh reserve

You are in for a fun-filled Easter holiday at RSPB Frampton Marsh, with a whole clutch of special activities.

All through the school break, you can turn detective and try to crack the clues on the Easter egg hunt.

After picking up an entry sheet from the visitor centre, you follow the tricky trail and unscramble the puzzle.

If you get the answers right, when you return to the centre you win a chocolatey reward!

The Easter egg hunt runs from tomorrow (Friday) until April 11, from 10am to 4pm each day (last entry 3pm).

The hunt is suitable for children aged five to 15 and costs £2, with accompanying adults free.

If you are a fan of social media, you might try your hand at the virtual egg hunt.

Hidden around the reserve are five large Easter eggs. If you find one, take a selfie with it. Then when you are home “like” the reserve’s Facebook page (facebook.com/rspblincs) and post your picture there to be entered into a free prize draw to win some Easter goodies. One entry per different egg found.

If the great outdoors is more your children’s thing, introduce them to some feathered friends with the Birds for Kids course.

This child-friendly event will teach your budding Chris Packham or Michaela Strachan how to tell which bird is which, before putting theory into practice with a walk on the reserve.

The courses are on Wednesday, March 30 and April 6, with sessions at 11am and 2pm. Sessions cost £3 per child with advance booking essential.

If grown-ups need to de-stress after looking after the kids, then the Spring Stroll on Easter Sunday (27 March) could be just the thing.

Starting at 2pm, an expert guide will lead you around the reserve, pointing out the lovely creatures that live here along the way.

To take part costs £4 per adult and £2 per child.

Chris Andrews, Visitor Experience Manager for the reserve, said; “This is an egg-citing time in nature, full of fresh sights, sounds and smells after the winter. An ideal time for you to visit the reserve and have a great time with your kids!”

You can get more information on these or any other reserve activities by calling 01205 724678 or by emailing [email protected].

RSPB Frampton Marsh is signposted off the A16, five miles south-east of Boston. There are toilets and a self-service catering area with snacks and hot and cold drinks. Entry to the reserve is free and the visitor centre is open 10am to 4pm (5pm at weekends and bank holidays).
