Spalding school wins quality mark award for support group

A school group which supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs has won an award.
Spalding Parish Church of England Day School (SPCEDS) welcomed special guest Helen Stollery, from the Nuture Group Network charity, who presented them with a Boxall Quality Mark Award.
The award rewards those who run Nurture groups, aimed at supporting pupils who struggle with the demands of school life and may suffer from low self-esteem and self-confidence or who need support to follow classroom rules and expectations.
The SPCED group has its own room which provides a nurturing environment in which to provide social group activities, whilst still teaching the National Curriculum.
The group is proving very successful and has already supported a large number of children’s social and emotional difficulties.
Prior to the award presentation, children in the Nurture Group entertained parents, carers, governors and professionals with an afternoon tea party to celebrate its success.
SPCEDS will be the only mainstream primary school in Lincolnshire to have been awarded the Boxall Quality Mark Award.
