Lyn Tancred enjoyed a winning return to Bretton Gate with Long Sutton Ladies 1st in Division 2NW.
But it was not a great start for her against City of Peterborough 2nd, seeing her penalty flick saved.
However, she drove to the byline in the second half and set up strike partner Leanne Woodhead to make it 1-0.
And from Sutton’s fourth short corner of the game, Tancred sealed the result.
Keeper Lorraine Wallis was also in goal for the 2nd team at Wisbech 3rd, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.
Spalding Ladies 2nd went out of the cup, beaten 9-1 by Beeston – a team playing several leagues higher.
After falling 1-0 behind Spalding bounced back when a superb move split the defence wide open, AJ Bunyan finding Amy Wells to level.
Beeston got their noses in front before half-time and scored at regular intervals after the break. However, young stand-in keeper Evie Malyby made several excellent saves.
Spalding Ladies 1st went down 3-1 at Norwich Dragons in Division 1N.
Amy Wells halved Norwich’s 2-0 lead early in the second half but the hosts scored a third time.
Meanwhile, player-of-the-match Lucy Simpson struck the only goal in Spalding Ladies 2nd’s win over Huntingdon 1st.
It was just reward after Spalding had created so many chances. Kelly Varley almost grabbed a second goal for them late on.
Spalding Ladies 3rd travelled to Newmarket 2nd with no recognised goalkeeper.
A galliant effort at the back, led by Kirsty Gammons, kept the home side at bay for virtually the whole first half before the only goal of the game.
Midfielders Katie Beeson and Elaine Allen impressed for Spalding.
