Regional call-ups for talented Spalding Golf Club duo

Two teenage members of Spalding Golf Club have been called up to their respective East Midlands Regional (EMR) squads.

Lois Williamson has been selected for the under-18, EMR Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence through England Golf, which offers players the opportunity to gain nationally recognised NVQ qualifications.

This two-year training programme recruits 40 players nationally – and Williamson is the only girl selected.

Meanwhile, Mathilde Kedzlie has been selected to join the under-16 EMR squad through England Golf. This is a one-year programme recruiting 150 boys and girls nationally.

  • Ladies’ section results: October Medal – 1st Angela Roper 74; 2nd Susan Matthews 76; 3rd Jenny Wilson 76.
  • At the club AGM, Chris Vickers stepped down as lady captain after a very successful year in which she raised over £3,000 for her designated charity. The new captain is Paula Brown, who will be supported by vice captain Hannah Thorold.

Also at the AGM, a special presentation was made to Pat West for her considerable achievements over many years. Elizabeth Holbrook, Spalding’s lady President, did the honours.
