Host of second-tier shocks send leaders Puyol seven clear

A spree of shocks in Division Two were the highlights of Monday night’s action in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League.

In-form Posh Old Boys were soundly beaten in a 5-1 defeat by FC Barnicols, promotion-chasing Sarah’s Boys threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Balotellitubbies – giving away their promotion spot to Nibblesborough in the process.

Division Two got under way with leaders Puyol Pants Down chalking up win number 13 as they beat rock-bottom Dynamo Kiev 1-0 at Glen Park to go seven points clear.

Tyler Wright was as impressive as ever and grabbed another man-of-the-match (MOTM) award.

FC Barnicols then put an abrupt end to Posh Old Boy’s striking form as they rolled out a smash-and-grab 5-1 win. Josh Nicol grabbed MOTM in this game.

Next up, Bowlcut Wanderers made it three back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory over the unpredictable Tekkerslovakia. It was another concrete and proficient performance from the boys in grey.
Lee Horwood got MOTM in this one.

Meanwhile, The TBME were all stuck at Creamfields festival and thus unable to attend their fixture against newbies Football Club –allowing the fresh outfit a 5-0 introduction to the league.

One of the games of the night then saw promotion-chasing Sarah’s Boys crash against Balotellitubbies in a fiery affair. MOTM Declan Earth shone for the Tubbies, with his individual movement and chance creation continually teeing up front-man Michael Cope for a brace.

The final second tier game saw Nibblesborough FC smash Mail Carters 5-0 to jump into second place.

Jordan Graham picked up his fifth MOTM award of the season in this one.

In the top flight, leaders Tekkers got the action under way with a 3-1 victory over East Europa.

Billy King was once again MOTM, but the best defence in the entire East region were again on form as Tekkers secured win number 12.

Game two saw Univeg Team finally find the missing piece of their puzzle as debutant Marcus Gilbertson notched a treble and MOTM display in their 3-1 win against Mirror Signal Malouda.

Match three was a non-starter after Pro Ballers were unable to field a team for their match against Polishborough. A disappointing outcome to the biggest-billed game of the night saw the Poles net a 5-0 default victory.

Next up, Simple FC were slick, well-organised and effective in their 3-0 success against The Squad. Playing pass-and-move football at its best, Simple restricted their rivals to long shots.

MOTM went to Jack Issitt, but there was a host of other candidates.

Relegation-threatened Notinmymum’s Forest and Horse and Groom played out a 2-2 stalemate – leaving the bottom of the table looking increasingly tight.

In what was a very entertaining clash, Forest were organised and well prepared, while Horse and Groom were speedy and swift.

Forest’s Norman Watson took the MOTM honours.

The final game of Division One this week was a solid 2-0 win for title-chasing You’ve Got No Fans against Evolution. A game of two halves, Evolution enjoyed the better of the opening period’s possession, despite going in 1-0 down, then YGNF bossed the second period. Andrew Baker was MOTM.
