LETTER: Empty sites could offer housing

As there is at present a shortage of affordable housing to rent, why are there so many sites standing empty for such a long time?

The old Johnson Hospital and nurses home, the old post office sorting office, Crowson’s garage site, The Bull and Monkie, to name just a few.

Surely the council must have the authority to compulsory purchase?

I am sure that good use could be put to building council flats etc to rent out at affordable prices to those on the waiting list.

Whilst on the subject of empty buildings and the possible use, I have mentioned before about the Magistrates’ Court being used at a possible site for a museum for Spalding and district as I understand that the Gentleman’s Society are considering looking for new premises.
