Leaders on cloud nine as both keep fine runs going

Nine was the magic number for the two table-topping sides in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night.

Division One leaders Tekkers smashed struggling Mirror Signal Malouda for nine at Surfleet’s Glen Park, while second tier pace-setters Puyol Pants Down made it nine wins on the spin by turning over The TBME 2-0.

Reigning champions Polishborough got the top flight action under way on a drizzly night, putting in a relaxed and proficient performance to beat fellow Baltics East Europa 4-0.

The highlight was a shining individual performance from Marcin Minczynski, who was named man of the match (MOTM).

Game two saw Notinmymums Forest left frustrated after failing to convert their chances in a 0-0 draw against an out-of-sorts Simple FC.

A stubborn goalkeeping performance from Dan Greenacre kept Forest at bay, but it was Jack Issitt who took home the MOTM prize.

The Squad’s decent run of form then came to an abrupt end when they met a reignited Pro Ballers. The Ballers cruised to a 2-0 victory with a vital two points to leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Louis Steadman was MOTM in this one after he impressed match official Junior Jones-Eyre.

Next up, Tekkers showed why they are sitting at the peak of the table – boosting their goal difference in the process – with a 9-0 demolition of rock-bottom Mirror Signal Malouda.

MOTM Billy King was on fine form, but this was a top display from the entire team as they made it seven wins from nine matches.

Meanwhile, there was just a smattering of chances as Evolution beat Univeg Team 2-1 in a physically intense game.

Both teams got bogged down in midfield play, meaning neither side was able to exert themselves fully going forward. Indeed, were it not for a terrific showing from one half of the Clow brothers, MOTM Jordan, this would have spiralled into a dull draw.

Division One concluded with newboys Horse and Groom, of Holbeach, going down 4-0 to unforgiving opponents You’ve Got No Fans – who remain joint top.

Kieran Rose was MOTM, in a game that saw the Groom guys pass the ball well.

Division Two began with in-form Sarah’s Boys keeping their promotion hopes alive thanks a convincing 3-1 victory over struggling Bowlcut Wanderers FC.

Ollie Coulam grabbed MOTM for Sarah’s Boys, who remain second.

Game two saw lowly Balotellitubbies come back from 1-0 down and beat the elements as they grabbed a 4-1 victory over Mail Carters.

Robert Green, who grabbed goal number two, was named MOTM.

Elsewhere, Will Kirkham got a deserved MOTM as Posh Old Boys piled on the misery for Dynamo Kiev by thrashing them 5-1.

It was a performance from “the good old days” for Posh as they exerted total control over their opponents.

There looks to be no stopping Puyol Pants Down after they secured a 2-0 win over The TBME to keep intact their 100 per cent record for the season. This game was, however, marred by an accusation of homophobic behaviour on the part of a Puyol player. This is currently being investigated by league management.

Liam Dove was MOTM.

The next game saw Nibblesborough FC score a late winner as they beat FC Barnicols 2-1 in the most entertaining tie in the division.

Jordan Graham popped up with the winner and yet another MOTM prize.

Division Two concluded with BK’s Athletic edging out Tekkerslovakia 1-0. It was Callum Davies who produced the match-winning performance.
