Table tennis league is in need of a boost after numbers drop for June

June was not a good month for the Spalding and District Table Tennis League’s summer season.

Already the holidays are having an effect on attendance, with player numbers down on those recorded in May.

In the past four weeks 68 people took to the table at the Castle Sports Complex, which is below the break-even point.

The lowest ebb saw just 12 show up one week. However, some of those are not members of the league and two have expressed an interest in forming a team for the new season.

The committee are already looking for teams for the autumn, which will help determine this year’s running costs – so anyone hoping to enter should contact the secretary.

Details are available on the league’s website (www.spaldingtabletennisleague.co.uk).

  • With the holiday disruption, it has been decided to set the AGM and presentation night on September 9.

This is a little later than usual, but committee members, and trophy winners, are not all available until then.

  • If you are interested in forming a team, or just trying a new sport, the Spalding and District League would like to hear from you.

No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and join in with a competitive, but friendly league.

The summer sessions are just £3 per evening.

  • With the school holidays beginning at the end of the month, the league will once again be hosting part of the council’s Summer Fun sessions. These will be alongside the league’s normal evenings on Wednesdays from about 7.30pm.
