Spalding Water Polo completed their Hertfordshire League home campaign unbeaten after securing an entertaining 17-15 victory over Cambridge in their final home fixture of the season.
The game began evenly, with both sides scoring three goals in the opening quarter.
Spalding then took control in the second, producing an impressive attacking display to score seven goals while restricting Cambridge to just two.
The third quarter was evenly contested, with both teams adding four goals to their totals, allowing Spalding to maintain their advantage going into the final period.
Cambridge mounted a strong comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals as they looked to overturn Spalding’s lead.
However, Spalding responded with three goals of their own to hold on and secure a 17-15 win.
Spalding’s goalscorers were Adam Found (6), John James (3), Tom Marsters (3), Adam Gibbons (2), Joe Scotney (1), Sam Murray (1) and Dan Leigh (1).
The result means Spalding finish their Hertfordshire League home fixtures undefeated this season.
They will round off their league campaign with an away trip to Watford later in November, while a number of friendly matches are also planned ahead of the Christmas break.
