LETTERS – No wonder signs are ignored

With the ever-growing proliferation of ‘road ahead closed’ signs, only to discover the highway is in fact open, it’s no wonder motorists are taking to ignoring such signs until it becomes obvious it really is closed to traffic.

The number of times a sign has been left by contractors, or relates to a side-road and not clarified, or is simply untrue, is infuriating.

I think most drivers now (myself included) will keep on going, and nine times out of ten there is no closure and no reason for any signs in the first place.
