Picnic to mark park anniversary

Local musicians will feature at an event to mark the first anniversary of a village park opening its doors to the public.

Picnic in the Park is set to take place at Moulton Park on Saturday, July 4, from 11am to 6pm.

It’s a fundraiser for the upkeep of the area purchased recently and opened to the public by the John and Maureen Biggadyke Foundation.

After a long and arduous process Moulton Park was finally opened to the public last July and the event will mark its anniversary of opening.

“The first year’s been really great,” said the Moulton Park committee’s Steven Adcock. “It’s proved popular. We’re looking to raise some money now for the general upkeep.

“We’ve already had some fantastic donations from the public and businesses.

“But we need to raise more for the general upkeep and the many plans we have for the site.”

Live music will come from the All Included Music Project (AIMP) which was set up by Chris Dark to bring local musicians together.

The 42-year-old had recently become disabled after falling through the roof of his Weston home breaking his back in five places.

A host of people who attend and have honed their skills over the year since the launch, plus formed bands and acts together, will be providing the live music.

There will also be a host of games and stalls as well as tractor and trailer rides.

Refreshments will be on offer, including ice cream, but attendees are also encouraged to bring their own picnics, blankets and chairs to site and enjoy the activities.

“AIMP contacted us about doing an event in the field and we’re looking to put on more events on, so it’s something we’ve organised jointly and plans are progressing well,” said Steven.

“Hopefully we’ll get a few down to enjoy the event, music and some our 20 acres of parkland that’s there for the public”.

The Moulton Park committee is looking for volunteers for the event and the committee and upkeep in general.

Anyone interested can contact the group via the Moulton Park Lincolnshire Facebook page.
