Builder provides home for service

A service offering private money advice is the first to launch in a new area of a community centre built by a local developer.

Project St Thomas has officially launched its Money Advice Connect Centre at its St Thomas’s Road base in Spalding.

It has been able to do so because one of its chief sponsors, Seagate Homes, has built a new space for it.

The national organisation Community Money Advice has worked with those behind Project St Thomas to launch the free service in the private area away from the main hall.

A spokesman for the charity said: “The centre is designed to bring hope and practical support to those feeling financially burdened, with both face-to-face and digital support available.

“But what makes this launch truly stand out is how the service has been physically made possible.

“Seagate Homes Group, has gone above and beyond by funding and delivering the creation of a dedicated private advice office within the community hub.

“Bringing together their own contractors, the firms delivered the full build of the space from constructing the walls and completing the plastering and decoration, through to installing electrics, lighting and security – creating a professional and confidential environment within the hub.

“The new office now allows support to be offered when people actually need it, not just when space allows.”

Tracey Carter, relationship manager at Project St Thomas, said: “We see every day the real pressures people are under, whether that’s rising costs, debt, or simply trying to get by.

“This service is about giving people the time, space and support to take control of their situation.

“We’re incredibly grateful to South Holland District Council and the Household Support Fund for enabling us to reach this stage – the training, compliance and setup behind the scenes are significant.

“And Seagate Homes haven’t just supported us – they have completely enabled this service.

“They created a private, safe space where people can talk openly, and that changes everything.”

Adam Murfett, of Seagate Homes Group, said: “Project St Thomas is delivering something that genuinely matters to the community, and as headline sponsor, we’re proud to support their work longer term.

“When we saw the importance of this new service, we wanted to do more – and creating a dedicated, private space felt like a really practical way to help make it possible.

“It means people can access the support they need with dignity, and we’re pleased to have been able to contribute to that.”
