A mini music festival that’s got a host of local musicians active and playing together has been hailed a success.
The All Included Music Project (AIMP) was set up by Chris Dark after a fall from this roof left him disabled.
He wanted to meet other music lovers, even those that might be short of confidence.
For the past year it’s led to attendees playing several events, including holding fortnightly open mic nights at the Royal Mail Cart.
They were also meant to be on a float at the Spalding Flower Parade, but when that was cancelled they put on their own festival at the same venue last Saturday.
Among the acts were The Velvet Tones Duo formed by two members that came to the AIMP practice sessions.
“It turned into a wonderful day,” said Chris. “It was fantastic to see all the families included and the children running around having fun.
“It highlighted AIMP and what set out to do, to create a safe space for all whatever your age.
“The sun shone and it was a pleasure to perform on stage.”
AIMP’s Dan Herauville said: “We pride ourselves on removing barriers and creating a space where people from all backgrounds can connect through music.
“Our regular sessions are about collaboration, but this event is a major milestone designed to take our artists to the next level, giving them the chance to step up from open mics to a more professional set-up.
“It was great to see families out in the sunshine enjoying the music and activities. Thank you to all that came down, and everyone at The Royal Mail Cart for letting us gatecrash their beer garden for the day.”
