Reports of ASB around council homes

More than 100 cases of anti-social behaviour have been reported around South Holland District Council’s social housing in the last year.

Members of its policy development panel were told that the authority had recorded a total of 117 cases between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

Officials said the council was also developing a new policy writes Local Democracy Reporter Oliver Castle.

At a meeting last week, Adel Gardner, change and improvement manager, said SHDC was working to create ‘clearer reporting routes’ for suspected ASB and had brought in a dedicated lead officer for it.

She added: “A key strength of the policy is that it’s been designed with tenants, so that’s a real drive for the regulator.

“The engagement took place through tenants focus groups, shelter focus groups, a survey, and also the new tenant influence panel. Tenants told us they wanted clever definitions, more visibility of what happens next, better communication during open cases and their feedback has directly shaped the final version of the policy – including some revised timetables which they then gave us some really clear guidance around.”
