Ben Wilson is to make his debut on the North West 200 road race scene this week.
The Vauxhall International North West 200 takes place on public roads between Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush in Northern Ireland and is considered one of the fastest road races in the world.
The annual event is run over the 8.97 mile course – famously named The Triangle – at speeds in excess of 200mph.
Having practised on Tuesday, Kirton racer Wilson will be involved in the races today (Thursday) and on Saturday.
He’ll be riding the Kawasaki he uses for the British Supersport championship and is looking forward to the event.
He said: “I have always wanted to have a crack at the NW200 and this year I have been given the opportunity to do so.
“I am really looking forward to the week, it will make a refreshing change from circuit racing.
“I have to learn the course and then complete some laps within the qualifying time before I can get rid of the orange novice jacket then it’s all systems go.
“I realise, as a novice, that I won’t be among the front runners – but this year is a learning year for me and to just finish my races will be an achievement for me.”
