The final week of the Spalding and District Snooker League season was one to remember for Pyramid F’s Mark Gray as his team were crowned Division One champions and he chalked up an incredible 132 clearance.
Consti E’s Simon Law (scr) broke before Gray (o98) took to the table and knocked in the impressive break.
His win, along with victories from Pete Hodgson-Kerry (o21), Ian Gibson (r7) and Carl Gibson (o28) sealed a 5-1 win over Consti and handed them the division title.
Second place went to clubmates Pyramid C who lost their final match 4-2 to Holbeach C who finished bottom and will be relegated to Division Two.
Holbeach’s winners were Nick Edwards (r14), Dan Ashton (o7) and Paul Ashton (r14).
They had a late push, also winning a rearranged game against Consti E 5-1, but it was too little, too late.
A 4-2 win over Pyramid D, along with a victory over Consti G in a rearranged match, pushed Services A up three places to finish the season in third place.
Jake Haslam (o14), Chris Dunmore (o42) and Martin Spencer (o28) got the wins for Services against the E team, while Vince Fitter (o42), Phil Spencer (o14) and Haslam were winners against the G team.
Boundary A finished in fourth place after a 4-2 win over Services D, who look likely to go down a division.
Paul Spicer (o21) got Services off to a good start with a black ball win over Elliott Cox (r7), before Tim Burrows (o7) answered back for Boundary.
Andy Mowforth (o14) put Boundary 2-1 up but Ian Smith (r7) levelled the scoreline, leaving Russ Morse (scr) and Steve Smith (r21) to play the decider with Smith coming out on top.
Along with Holbeach C, and Services D, Services C are also in danger of relegation, depending on the number of teams entering the league next season.
Services C ended up second-from-bottom after a 4-2 loss to Donington C.
Donington’s winners were Mick Pearl (o14), Ben Wrigglesworth (o28) and Mat Turner (o28).
Gosberton A got the better of Consti G with a 5-1 win thanks to Paul Wright (o7), Adam Twigg (o7), Jamie Mumby (o28) and Alan Jackson (scr). Neil Grant (r7) got Consti’s only point.
Consti H ended up dropping two places to fifth after Holbeach D beat them 5-1.
Holbeach’s winners were Callum Scott (r7), Don Monk (o21), Andy Spearman (o7) and Denis Hix (r7).
With Division Two champions Holbeach B already crowned, clubmates Holbeach E moved up to grab second place and promotion to Division One.
They beat Consti F, who were in the running for the top three but finished fourth, 4-2 with wins coming from Ethan Lawrence (r7) and Chris O’Leary (o21) twice.
The final promotion spot went to Pyramid A who finished third with a 5-1 win over Holbeach B.
Victor Rouse (r7), Michael Twell (o7), Dean Cole (o7) and John Twell (o7) were the winners.
Gosberton D pulled a 6-0 whitewash out of the bag to move up a place to fifth. They beat Whittlesey A thanks to wins from James Parrott (scr) twice, Neil Simmons (o21), Keith Lungley (o28) and Paulo Gensiorskyj (scr).
A 4-2 win for Donington A over Holbeach F wasn’t enough for them to avoid the drop, finishing bottom of the table.
Nigel Brasier (o28), Tony Scully (o42) and Kevin Hawes (o14) were the winners.
Also likely to find themselves in the third division next season are Whittlesey C and Pyramid E.
Whittlesey won 4-2 against Services B.
Neil Burton (scr), Gary Thewliss (r7) and Jason Bloomfield (o28) got the points to give them their eighth win of the season.
Pyramid E finished 11th after a 4-2 loss to Holbeach A.
It’s as you were in Division Three, with the top three teams holding their places.
Holbeach G have been crowned champions and will be playing in Division Two next season.
They beat Consti C 4-2 thanks to wins from John Dawson (o21), Stu Sullivan (o28) and Ian Woodberry (scr).
Boundary B finished second with a 5-1 win over Consti D.
Steve Moore (r21) was Consti’s only winner, getting the better of Paul Spittlehouse (o63).
Gosberton B were the final team to get promotion after a 4-2 win against Donington D, who ended the season bottom of the table.
Nigel Goodwin (r14) and Warren Driver (r14) put Gosberton two up, before Paul White (r7) got one back for Donington.
Merv Pattinson (r14) took the fourth frame and the win for Gosberton.
Whittlesey B beat Consti B 4-2 to end their season in fifth place.
Kay Skutela (r28), Kerry Skutela (r28) and Pawel Skutela (r14) got the wins.
A 4-2 loss to clubmates Consti A, saw Consti J end up second-from-bottom with just eight wins all season.
The A team’s winners were Louis Steadman (r14), Wayne Wilding (o14) and Bill Prosser (o14).
Gosberton C finished their season with a 4-2 win over Donington B.
