Moulton Harrox’s love affair with the Lincolnshire County FA Junior Cup continued at Boston United last Friday.
The Peterborough League front-runners held their nerve to see off Skegness Town Reserves 3-1 after extra time to lift the prestigious trophy for a remarkable sixth time.
Key to the win was Wilkin Chapman Rollits Player of the Match Nathan Smith, who scored twice in extra-time to complete his hat-trick.
Smith broke the deadlock seven minutes before half-time when he made the most of an error by Skegness goalkeeper Ben Smith.
Toby Cotton equalised from the penalty spot after 68 minutes and Moulton came close to a winner when Dec Earth hit a post.
There was very little between the two teams, with a well-drilled and organised Lincolnshire League side frustrating Moulton until the 2023 winners finally got their noses in front at the Jakemans Community Stadium home of the National League Pilgrims.
Five minutes into extra-time Smith got on the end of a back post cross to score with a header and he completed his treble four minutes before the end when he latched on to a long through ball to slot past his namesake again.
Moulton had also won the cup in 1996, 1997, 2013 and 2018.

Bottom side Whaplode Drove Rovers continued to run their opponents close but failed to build on the previous week’s shock defeat of Warboys when they slipped 2-1 at Whittlesey Athletic Reserves. Snor Islam was the away scorer.
