Blaze at Spalding town centre store

Firefighters put out a blaze at a Spalding town centre shop yesterday (Wednesday, March 18).

Crews from Spalding and Kirton attended Hall Place at 3.50pm after reports of a fire.

They cornered off the TG Jones store.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “Crews used one water backpack and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire, which caused significant damage to the internal components of a lift motor at the premises.

“The cause was identified as overuse of the lift motor and determined as accidental.”
