Inspired by one of its residents, a care home has launched a book of poems intended to improve mental health.
Stephen Atkins, who lives at Cedar Falls Care Home in Little London, Spalding, is a regular writer of poetry.
He has inspired the publication of Soothing Minds credited to ‘Stephen Atkins and Friends’.
Stephen (54) said: “I feel incredibly proud and happy. It means a great deal to me being able to share my poems with others, whilst being able to raise awareness of mental health concerns. The book is for anyone struggling with their mental health and I hope my words help people feel less alone.”
Profits will go towards the residents’ funds and the Shine mental health charity.
It was launched on World Book Day when staff dressed up as book characters and there was a special visit from the Rock Choir and chair of South Holland District Council Jan Whitbourn. Oliver Weaver from Shine attended to say thank you from the charity.
