Memories of pavilion as revamp unveiled

Those who have used Fleet Playing Field are being urged to pop along to see its revamped pavilion.

A UK Shared Prosperity Fund grant plus money from Fleet Parish Council has seen it be refurbished.

Paul Barnes, the chair of the council and district councillor, said: “now offers disabled toilet facilities, a shower room and a brand-new kitchen area.

“The accessible changing rooms are now fully enclosed and the whole building benefits from a new floor and dedicated heaters.

“The parish was delighted to be supported by Brewers Decorating Centre (Wisbech) and EPH Edmundson Electrical Ltd (Spalding) who were kind enough to donate materials for the project.

“We are now looking for groups to use this excellent community facility, to enable them to enjoy the play area and sports field for a variety of activities.”

It is getting its official unveiling at 10.30am on Thursday, March 19.

“Following a recent Facebook post which gained several comments from residents who used to use the changing rooms several years ago we would like to invite anyone who remembers what it was like to join us,” Coun Barnes said.
