Rare book to boost charity

A charity bookstore is looking to raise money by silently auctioning off a very rare book on local history.

The Sue Ryder store in The Crescent, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, has been donated a signed copy of David Peating’s ‘Goin’ to the Dance’.

It is a gazetteer of the famous groups and bands who performed at the Boston Gliderdrome in the 1960s and 70s.

The store has carried out silent auctions for such books before with the last raising £311.

Manager Paul Redford, said: “We’re encouraging participants to simply leave their name, telephone number, and the amount they wish to bid, inside a sealed envelope before 12pm on Friday, March 20.

“All the entries will be opened and the person who placed the highest bid will be contacted and invited to pop along to purchase their prized publication.”
