New wheels for Blood Bike

A Spalding charity has made one of its biggest ever donation to support the county’s Blood Bike service.

The town’s Round Table gave £16,000 to buy a top-of-the-range BMW motorcycle for Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS).

The money was raised through community events including Spalding Festival and the newly-established Santa Sleigh which is now to be an annual event.

“After learning about the huge area LEBBS covers, with every one of the members giving their time for free, this felt like a most fitting and deserved donation. It has been a brilliant way to start drawing the curtain on my time with Round Table and an honour to see our emblem riding out to help save lives,” said Round Table chairman Matt Clark.

“As I am fast coming to an end of my final year with this great group of guys, I am so proud to have been able to lead one of our largest ever donations.”

The BMW 1250RT bike is now active across Lincolnshire. It has been equipped with heated seats and full-body protection to keep volunteer riders safe and warm during freezing shifts.
