Emergency pot hole repairs to close part of A17 tomorrow

Part of the A17 is to be closed tomorrow (Saturday February 28) for emergency pothole repairs.

From 7am traffic travelling east on the road at Gedney will be diverted through the village instead.

Lincolnshire County Council say the work is due to be finished by 6pm.

A spokesman for the authority said: “The patching works programme will be tending to issues on the eastbound lane of the Gedney dual carriageway, sorting out potholes and surface problems.

“The crew will get on with fixing the recent issues reported on the fix My Street service by residents, and those highlighted by county councillors Rob Gibson, Robbie Woods and Neil Carey.”

Coun Carey said: “Highways are putting an emergency crew on the road to address the urgent problems that have appeared. The plan is to get these works done within the day and make the road much better for everyone to use.

“Because there can’t be normal traffic using the road while a crew are in the middle of it filling potholes, there has to be a short, day-long diversion in place on the eastbound lane of the dual carriageway. With a planned end time of 6pm, the diversion disruption will thankfully be short-lived.

“I want to say thank you for your patience and understanding to everyone effected by the diversion tomorrow. We will do everything we can to get these works completed in the planned short timeframe and the A17 eastbound at Gedney back into a better state.”
