Top dogs New Saracen’s Head C complete yet another double

The relentless force that is New Saracen’s Head C have notched up another Grays of Holbeach Spalding and District Darts League double.

Having already wrapped up the Division One title with 13 wins from 14 games, the all-conquering side added the Supreme Cup to their coffers on finals night.

The team of Mark Taylor, Pete Richardson, Simon Hill, Colin Hatter, Mark Horspool, Mick Gent, Brian Fines and Duncan Hunt prevailed over Whaplode Drove to deliver their latest double.

Also doing a double were DIvision Two champions Tigers, who defeated rivals Holbeach USC to get their hands on the Secondary Cup crown.

Meanwhile, Rose and Crown – who finished third in Division One – lifted the Kelly Foster Cup after seeing off George and Angel in the first game of the night at Tigers Social Club.

Then came the individual showdowns, with Dawn McTavish and Wayne Merrison storming to the Mixed Pairs gong following a win over Jason Vines and Barbara Baley.

Steve O’Brien and Tony Denman were next to get their hands on some silverware. Phil Newton and Ricky Newton were their victims in the Division Two Pairs final.

There was something of a shock in the Division One Pairs final, with NSH C big guns Horspool and Hunt handed a reverse by Lamb and Flag aces Ash Allen and Mark Waters.

The Ladies’ final was always going to be close, but it was Lindsay Wingell who got one over MacTavish to become the queen of the league.

Andy Beeken (Consti A) then claimed the Captain’s Cup gong with a success over NSH C skipper Fines.

In the singles, Tony Denman got the better of Ant Richardson to claim the Division Two prize, while Vines put his Mixed Pairs defeat behind him to dispatch Duggie McInerney and lift the Division One trophy.
