A shop manager from Spalding was today (Thursday) cleared of sexual assaults against four women.
Mohamed Alam, 40, of St Thomas Road, Spalding, had denied 17 sexual offences during a nine day trial at Lincoln Crown Court.
A jury found Mr Alam not guilty of eight sexual assault charges, two counts of causing a female person to engage in sexual activity without consent and one offence of exposure.
The jury failed to reach verdicts on six other sexual assault charges after deliberating for over seven hours.
All the offences were alleged to have occurred between October 2020 and September 2022.
The trial judge, Recorder Simon King, discharged the jury and thanked them for their “close and careful consideration of the case.”
Prosecutors had alleged that Mr Alam touched the women in an inappropriate manner and made them uncomfortable by talking about their sex lives.
But Mr Alam denied exposing himself or touching any of the women in a sexual way, and insisted false complaints had been brought against him.
Recorder King told Mr Alam: “The jury have found you not guilty on all the charges they were able to reach verdicts.”
