A former Lincolnshire Police officer has denied two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour.
Daniel Boulter, 49, of Loxley, Sheffield, appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court and spoke to confirm his name, age and address and to plead not guilty to the charges.
The court was told that the alleged offences took place between 2015 and 2018, when Boulter was a serving police officer.
Boulter joined Lincolnshire Police in 2014 and left in 2019. He has since retired from policing.
The former Detective Inspector had worked for the Emerald Team in Lincolnshire, a unit established to investigate and support alleged victims of sexual assault and rape. He has also worked at police forces in Northamptonshire and South Yorkshire.
At a court hearing on Wednesday, December 17, Judge Rahim Allen-Khimani said that the case in question could not be dealt with at the magistrates’ court and the case will now be sent to Leicester Crown Court.
Serena Joshi, defending, had tried to argue that the case could be heard by the court today.
However, Matthew Wyatt, prosecuting, said that these were “two serious offences” which were “against two separate complainants” and should be sent to the Crown Court.
Mr Wyatt said that the first woman, referred to as complainant A, alleged that Boulter’s behaviour towards her was violent and controlling and “put her in fear” for her own safety.
The court also heard that Mr Boulter is accused of subjecting the second woman, referred to as complainant B, to coercive and controlling behaviour, including gaslighting her and making false allegations about her.
Boulter will appear before Leicester Crown Court on February 2, 2026. He has been granted unconditional bail.
