Pyramid sit on top ahead of the Christmas break

Every match in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League finished in a 4-2 result on Thursday night.

League leaders Pyramid C, who sit 14 points clear at the top going into the Christmas break, got the better of lowly Holbeach C.

Holbeach started off the stronger team, taking the first two frames courtesy of Dan Ashton (o7) and Terry West (r7), before Pyramid won the next three frames and the match thanks to Dave Pearson (o14), George Neary Phillips (o21) and Spencer Dawkins (o56).

They have won 12 of the 13 matches played so far this season.

Second-placed Pyramid F beat bottom-of-the-table Consti E.

Their winners were Oliver Player (o28), Ian Clare (scr) and Mark Gray (098), who had a 79 clearance in his victory over Jack Chilvers (o28).

Boundary A are third afterr beating Services D. Wins in that one came from Pete King (scr), Daniel Smith (o28) and Elliott Cox (r7). Paul Spicer (o21) and Russ Morse (o7) got the points for Services.

Sitting in fourth are Consti H, who won at home to Holbeach D.

Doug Garfoot (o28) got Consti off to a winning start, before Paul Daw (o28) squared the scoreline.
Garfoot won again to take the third frame and then Mark German (o28) sealed the victory with a 83-49 win over

Wayne Fobelets (o21). Don Monk (o21) won the final frame for Holbeach.

Consti G beat Gosberton A thanks to wins from Martin Deacon (o14), Darren Woodberry (o42), who claimed a 27 break, and Ady Sibley (o35).

Services A walked away winners in their home match against Donington C.

Winners on the night were Shane Cummins (o21), Kev Fitter (o14) and Nigel Cherry (o7).
Donington’s Mat Turner (o28) got a 28 break.

Pyramid D’s win over Services A could easily have gone the other way with Peter Jackson (r7) pipping Jake Haslam (o14) by a single point.

Other winners for Pyramid were Peter Sharpe-Grose (r7), and Marcus Hamilton (o28).

There were a raft of 5-1 results in Division Two, with only a single match seeing a different scoreline.

Holbeach teams are dominating the division, holding the top three spots.

Sitting in first place, Holbeach E beat Consti F 5-1.

It was heading towards a whitewash with wins from Rob Coaten (r14), Richard Parker (o7), James Crampton (o14), who had a 27 clearance, and Ethan Lawrence (r14), but Bryan Turnell (r14) snatched the last frame for Consti to give them a single point.

Second-placed Holbeach A got the better of Pyramid E, winning 5-1.

Holbeach B are in third, but lost 4-2 to Pyramid A.

Winners for Pyramid were Jim Benner (r7), Michael Twell (o7) and Norman Vaughan, who took the first three frames respectively.

Holbeach made the score more respectable thanks to wins from Charlie Mullane (r28) and Ady Liquorish (r14).

Holbeach F got a win over Donington A, beating them 5-1.

Dan Mayfield (o28) was Holbeach’s only loser in that one, John George (r7) getting the better of him.

Services B went down 5-1 at home to Whittlesey C. Whittlesey’s winners were John Willis (r7), Paul Cook (o21),

Neil Burton (o7) and Jason Bloomfield (o28). Alan Hansard (scr) got the solitary point for Services.

Clubmates Whittlesey A didn’t have such a good night though, they lost 5-1 away to Gosberton D.

Graeme Sawyer (o14) took the first frame but it was downhill from there with Neil Simmons (o14), Keith Lungley (o28) twice and James Parrott (r7) getting the points for Gosberton.

Four of the five top teams in Division Three suffered losses.

Consti B are joint top of Division Three despite a 5-1 loss away to Whittlesey B.

John Keeton (o7) grabbed the single point for them, winning the final frame with a 25 clearance.

Holbeach G, who share the top spot, were without a match on Thursday night, as their fixture against Consti was postponed.

Third-placed Gosberton C also lost, they went down 4-2 away to bottom-of-the-table Donington B.

Donington’s winners were Phil Burrell (r7), Gavin Lewis (o14) and Jim Thompson (scr).

Stuart Henderson (scr) and Mark Payne (o14) got the points for Gosberton.

Boundary B lost 4-2 away to Consti D, Steve Moore (r21), Geoff Ellingworth (r14) and John Cooper (r28) took the first three frames respectively, giving Consti the win.

Paul Spittlehouse (o56) and Ash Heywood (o21) were winners for Boundary.

Gosberton B got a convincing 5-1 win over Donington D. Mark Howlett (o7) was the only loser.

Consti J took on clubmates Consti A and walked away 4-2 winners.
