Donington stretch lead

There was no change in positions at the top of the Spalding & District League, with leaders, Donington B extending their lead thanks to a 5-2 win against Gosberton. Donington’s Neil Reynolds (o40) beat Marcus Pell (o45) 200-93, with five breaks over 20, his highest being 32.
Mick Pearl (r55), in his debut season, made it two up for the home team with a 200-178 win against Des Forbes (r70). Shane White (o20) rescued two points for Gosberton by beating Neil Burton (r60) 200-176, making a 47 break.
Star of the week was Roxton Chapman (o260) of Broadway. He hit two century breaks in his win over Reegan Cooke-Holmes (r60) of Bourne Pyramid A. He struck 63, 70, 125 and an unfinished 123 to close the game 200-74. Teammate Gary Norman (o255) was in better form this week with 10 breaks of more than 20, the highest being 52 to secure a 200-168 win against John Twell (r50). Pyramid’s only winner was John Clapton (r110) in the 5-2 defeat.
Holbeach B lost 5-2 at Bourne Pyramid B but stay second. Andy Spearman (r70) was their only winner. Maurice Phillipson (r80) and Darrell Read (r30) were Bourne’s winners.
A nail-biting evening at Services saw them secure their second win of the season, beating Donington A 5-2. They were close to a maximum, with their only loser, Phil Spencer (r75) missing out by one point to Nigel Brasier (r60). Spencer had the highest break of the evening with a 28. Two more close games went the way of Services with Vince Fitter (o15) and Nigel Cherry (r90) beating Jim Thompson (r60) and Tony Scully (r35) respectively.
Holbeach A beat Consti 5-2, with Jason Rose scoring a 49 break.
